FRAMING & LAYOUT ESTIMATOR
Roof Truss Calculator
Estimate required roof truss quantities, top chord lengths, peak center rise, and framing layout intervals based on building dimensions and truss spacing.
Roof Truss Calculator
Estimate total truss count, top chord length, center rise, and layout spacing.
How Truss Quantity Is Estimated
Roof trusses are spaced at regular intervals (typically 24 inches on-center for residential framing, or 16 inches for heavy snow loads). The total truss count includes trusses placed at both gable ends plus the intermediate spans:
Truss Estimation Formulas
Estimated Truss Count = ⌈Building Length ÷ (Spacing ÷ 12)⌉ + 1
Peak Rise = (Span ÷ 2) × (Pitch ÷ 12)
Top Chord Length = (Span ÷ 2 + Overhang) × √(1 + (Pitch ÷ 12)²)
